Brahman Naman

Somewhere I read a review that this film only runs on its perversity. I am inclined to agree. The narration forms a cyclic pattern of quiz-self gratification-dreaming. Was it aimed at being a coming-of-age film? Because there seems to be no self-awakening in the protagonist in the end. Ideally a film should enable you to 'take back something from it'. Brahman Naman does not. Hence the feeling of a nonsense-sex-comedy churns into that of a farce. Throwback to Mastizaade.

The music is the only redeeming factor.

The thing is that, it may probably be an authentic depiction of the 80s quizzing scene and especially in Bangawhore (film hangover?), but non-quizzers who see it, at one point will forget these specific parameters; and colour their present views regarding quizzers all around. The classic example being, people telling me "Tune ye film dekhi?, Its about YOU quizzers!" And this perhaps, maybe, will affect the growth of younger cities on the quizzing scenes like Pune. Because who is going to sit explaining that there is no 'Indian' Quizzing Scenes, but that every city has its own specialization and we have come a long way from one liners?
