Dune

To start with the obvious, TBIBTTW (The Book Is Better Than The Movie).

Frankly, there is not much to say. And in my reviews, that is generally a good thing. The vast scope of the visuals, graphics and feel are the selling point, and they live up to the hype. I agree that it is a movie that must be seen in theatres.

They have stayed true to much of the lore, without falling into the Too Much Exposition trap. This is a series of parts I would not mind seeing. This also means that the action sequences and tightness of the script were tight enough to arrest the attention.

Timothy Chamuelaiyt plays his usual soft boi role. He has become Eddie Redmayne 2.0 at this point. The supporting cast and Zendaya Who Looks Back Over Her Shoulder did their part well.

One complaint, which I read online in a preliminary interview is that they have erased much of the Islamic influence from the book (for eg: the Fremen "Holy War" is actually called "Jihad" in the books.) Hopefully, the second part will have more of them.

Had gone to watch it in Cinepolis West End. Drank a cold drink more expensive than the tickets. And they had switched off the AC. Seven curses on them.

Rating: To be perfectly honest, iMAX may have gotten it a better rating from me, but since it was normal 3D, 3 Beards/5

Special thanks to PP for his company.
