Disney's Kimba (see the Kimba controversy)/Rehashed Hamlet; This movie is also known as The Lion King (the new live-action)

A family movie, so saw it with parents. We all enjoyed it.

The animation is very realistic, and the cinematography, character voicing and dialogue etc. are classic. Note that I haven't seen the original.

One argument I read online is that the movie loses the flexibility of 2D animation in showing facial expressions: scar's eyebrows and smile, the hyenas comedic zoinks et al. I would agree.

Did Rafiki had no comprehensible dialogue in the 2D one too?

There is one brilliant circle of life scene where hair from Simba lands up through a process onto Rafiki's tree. I could watch that on loop.

Scar's song is nice.

I think the greatest success of the movie was that my mum loved the cute baby animals and all the song sequences. I guess at the end, films are meant to instigate emotion, and that mission was fulfilled.

2 Beards/5
