Ready Player One

A very nice movie. Stunning visuals. A Spielberg movie, of course. Not a must see, but surely a why-not see. And not just by video-game aficionados. The only downside is that quite a few pop-culture references go over the head, but it does not affect the story-line.

Mark Rylance is one of my favourite actors (Bridge of Spies, the BFG), and his ajobaness is very ajobalike.

With opening shots of a drone delivering pizza and several VR sets which are actually available, the premise does not seem too far off. Even everything in the gameworld was relateable.

The sight of the loyalty centres with hundreds of boxes (cages) and the Sixers, slaving away brings forth the most horrific images of the future factory planatations. "Escaping from reality into VR" being the most valuable resource in the future, strikes too close to heart.

The good part was they did not put in too many explanations full of loopholes, thus leaving it open to interpretation (like what is the source of Coin etc.) and closed to criticism from the gamer-community.

The cheesiness is where it should be and understandable and does not seem out-of-place or over-the-top. The mystery and objective-driven plot is also quite fulfilling

Quite entertaining and you know it is going good when you say "wtf?" at the sudden interval.

Not much to say regarding the music, as the visuals were gripping enough. Especially with six eyes.

My third trip to Pavilion and the only one where I actually enjoyed the movie. Though the complex is still terribly designed. Whotf keeps the stairs so far away from each other?
