Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Watched it about three days back, am still conflicted about my own opinion of the movie. But the trend is consistently towards the negative with my Harry Potter love trying its best to oppose this trend. I got the chill too, with Hedwig's Theme and the WB logo. But that was it.

I tried to look at it from an independent franchise POV. Say someone has not seen the HP movies/read the books. For them even the ending I think was half-hearted. Why would Grindelwald excite them so much? And then the only thing that this movie has to offer are the Fantastic Beasts themselves. Frankly, its high time they concentrated on scripts. Avatar (James Cameronwala) gave us plenty of much better animation and beasts. With entire minutes dedicated to just magic happening, it does get boring. And who the hell uses Accio to disarm someone? And I sincerely hope she did not create food from thin air at the Goldsteins' home. It is an exception to Gamp's Law. This is exactly what I mean. There is this nagging feeling that you need to know stuff to watch and enjoy the movie but then this movie does not live upto the expectation and you tell yourself 'standalone franchise ahe'. Are pan Dumbly ani Hogwarts che refrences ahet na. Too much confusion. And that is how I define this movie: 'UNREQUITED CONFUSION'.
I think Eddie Redmayne is like Katrina Kaif. He plays the same type of characters in all his films and in the same way. Thodasa awkward, but lovable.
The only twist was the revelation of who actually the Obscural was. That was the only 'Naice!' And the sidekick No-Maj, Bas. Nothing more. Better download and watch.

What is troubling is the question if Rowling is going to mould the narrative from a film-perspective or write a strong story (cc: Aakanksha Saxena)? For old fans, to rise upto the level of even HFP (which according to me was the worst HP movie) she needs to put in tremendous effort. And also to redeem this franchise. With the prospect of what? 5 more movies?! Is it just greed? And then is JKR complicit in this Shylockean attempt by WB to carve another pound of flesh from the universe?

City Pride Kothrud. Horrible 3D. But only 10 Rs. parking.
I had decided that 3 would be the upper limit and not below 2. But it slid from 2.8-2.7 to 2.3-2.4. And since I am sticking to whole numbers:
2 Beards/5

Was accompanied by Rama Gokhale. Recently she had written a really nice acrid review of the Cursed Child. She was of the opinion that it would be a bad movie and a bad idea. I was of the opposite opinion. We both had got great reviews. She was right. She'll write a review too.
